Inflammasomes implicated in pathological conditions in glial cells. Inflammasomes can be activated in the CNS in response to different stressors. Inflammasome activation has been demonstrated in resident cell types of the CNS, including microglia, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes. NLRP3, NLRCs and AIM are the inflammasomes located in glial cells and whose participation has been demonstrated in a wide variety of pathological conditions.
