Exosome secretion, structure, and uptake. Cell-secreted exosomes transport biomolecules throughout the body to receptor cells, where uptake occurs through three main mechanisms: fusion, receptor-ligand interaction, endocytosis. Exosome structures include lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids from secreting cells and vary based on cellular origin.
