VEGF was up-regulated by catalpol mediated by PI3K/AKT to protect NVU, both in ischemic hemisphere of rats and in vitro NVU model, followed by the increase of FAK and Paxillin and the activation of PI3K/AKT and MEK1/2/ERK1/2 pathways.
