Schematic representation of the sequence of events in a trial. The experimental session was divided into two tasks. (A) Affective rating task: 16 food pictures (8 UPF and 8 UMPF) interspersed with 74 pictures in different affective categories from the IAPS were displayed, and the participants rated how they felt while viewing each picture by marking the Self-Assessment Manikin scale. (B) After the affective rating task, participants performed a second task in which they rated their “intention to consume” each of the 16 foods presented in the pictures on a scale ranging from 0 (none) to 8 (maximum).
