Effect of sex and ASD on receptor binding density and gene expression in the human SN. (a) OXTR binding density for TD and ASD males and females. Females diagnosed with ASD have significantly less OXTR binding than any of the other experimental groups. (b). OXTR mRNA within the SNc for TD and ASD males and females. No significant differences were identified between groups. (c) TH mRNA within the SN for TD and ASD males and females. No significant correlations were identified.
