Cellulose content and matrix polysaccharides (MPSs) are expressed as a percentage of the CWR. The cellulose content was determined using an Updegraff assay, whereas the MPS content was determined gravimetrically. The composition of the MPS is expressed as mole percent of the total MPS content. The values are given as average (SD) of 10 biological replicates. **0.01 > P > 0.001 (ANOVA with post hoc Tukey’s HSD test).
