Pattern of location of kinetochore proteins across interphase in Rabl configuration-deficient cells (sad1.2 csi1∆). (A) In metazoans, CENP-A and CCAN (constitutive centromere-associated network) are constitutively associated with centromeres during the cell cycle. Ndc80 complex is assembled and accumulated at centromeres in prophase, and it is delocalized during late anaphase–telophase. (B) Fission yeast cells show persistent signal of inner and outer kinetochore proteins throughout interphase. (C) Outer kinetochore components are recruited to the centromeres in Rabl configuration-deficient cells with a timing reminiscent of that seen in metazoans.
