Cross‐sections accompanying the potentiometric map (Dumont 1856). The first cross‐section (top) is drawn orthogonally to the direction of the chalk layers. The second cross‐section (second from the top) is also drawn in that direction and is located along the proposed aqueduct gallery. The third cross‐section (third from the top) is in the parallel direction of the chalk layers following the two proposed “lateral” galleries, and the fourth cross‐section (bottom) is also in the parallel direction of the chalk layers but located upstream.
