Effects of formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) block storage duration on DNA quality (SCRUM‐Japan/GI‐SCREEN project). We examined 2573 FFPE samples of gastrointestinal cancer (biopsy and surgical samples) prepared during routine practice submitted by 19 institutions participating in the GI‐SCREEN project. Refer to Figure 1 for the sample preparation details. (a) The proportion of high‐quality samples decreased over time, while low‐quality samples increased.
