Partial IR spectra of the NO stretching frequency region of the reaction between (top, blue) FeCl2 with [PNP][SSNO] yielding [Fe(NO)2(S5)]−, (middle, red) FeCl2 with [PNP][SNO] in THF yielding a mixture of [FeCl2(NO)(SH)]− and [Fe(NO)2(S5)]−, and (bottom, purple) FeCl2 with [PNP][SNO] in CHD yielding a mixture of [FeCl2(NO)(SH)]− and [Fe(NO)2(S5)]−. The NO stretches at 1735 cm−1 and 1685 cm−1 correspond to complex 1 and we assign the NO stretch at 1795 cm−1 to complex 2.
