Sensitivity analysis of the 2050 cumulative mean landfill rate and mean recycling revenues to the preprocessing costs required to shred or cut EOL wind blades and the weight of the barriers factors in the wind plant owners’ EOL decisions

Panels A and C present the 2050 cumulative rate and national recycling revenues depending on preprocessing costs (i.e., costs required to cut blades into segments) and logistical barriers, respectively.

Panels B and D present the 2050 cumulative rate and national recycling revenues depending on preprocessing costs (i.e., costs required to shred blades) and logistical barriers, respectively.

Panels E and F present the states’ recycling revenues when EOL wind blades are transported as segments and shreds (for the parameter combinations indicated by the red dotted lines in panels C and D), respectively. Data for panels A, B, C, and D are generated with a ML metamodel trained on 2,407 parameter combinations (Sobol sequences) replicated 6 times.
