The secondary structure downstream of accE may represent a factor-independent transcriptional terminator. Probes 1 and 2 were generated by PCR using the oligonucleotides accBup-accBdown and accBEup-accBEdown, respectively, uniquely labeled at the 5′ end (∗) and were used in transcriptional analysis of the accBE operon.
