There are a total of 2,072 genes that present significant homologies in the genomes of B. vietnamiensis and P. kururiensis and are thus considered part of the core genome (see Materials and Methods). A fraction of this core genome is colonization depleted in both species. Additionally, a substantial proportion of the genes that are found to be colonization depleted in a species or the other also belong to the core genome.
