Omegaven® increases the capacitance indicating reduced electrode coverage. Omegaven® and Intralipid® lipid emulsions at 0.01, 0.1 and 1 mM concentrations were added to endothelial cells during cell seeding on the ECIS electrode (A), in the cells logarithmic growth phase (B), and in cells plateau growth phase (C). The electrode coverage was monitored by an ECIS®Zθ (Z Theta) device, and 60 measurements of capacitance (nF) in 70 h were recorded for cells grown in triplicates. The decrease in capacitance of cells grown on the electrode is directly proportional to the electrode coverage. Therefore, the higher values indicate the lower electrode coverage by cells.
