Orexin structure and receptors. Orx-A and Orx-B are derived from a common precursor peptide, pre-pro-orexin (pre-pro-Orx). The actions of orexins are mediated via two GCPRs, orexin-1 (OX₁R) and orexin-2 (OX₂R) receptors. OX₁R exerts greater affinity for Orx-A, whereas OX₂R is a non-selective receptor for both Orx-A and Orx-B.
