Effect of metformin treatment on body mass index (BMI) in the non-obese, obese and very obese patients. BMI was assessed in subgroups of non-obese (BMI < 30 kg/m2), obese (BMI 30-35 kg/m2) and very obese (BMI > 35 kg/m2) women with PCOS before (t(0)) and after (t(1)) treatment with metformin. Differences between BMI at t(1) vs. t(0) were tested using Wilcoxon tests for paired non-parametric analyses. Data are presented as mean ± standard error of the mean. ** p < 0.01, *** p < 0.001.
