Through the use of Diversity Database software, the similarity of patterns was calculated using the Dice coefficient with weighting of band intensities. Unweighted pair grouping with mathematical averages was used for clustering. Experimental replicates are given the same designation, and their positions within the dendrogram do not indicate their identities. Bean and clover were sampled after 8 and 11 weeks, respectively. Week 2 through week 10, alfalfa microcosms sampled after the times indicated; BBA, alfalfa in BBA soil. All microcosms except that for alfalfa in BBA soil contained FAL soil (sampling after 10 weeks).
