From galactose-limited continuous cultures growing with average doubling times of 30 h, a sample was taken and diluted 10 times in YNB without carbon source. At different time points, cells were plated onto plates containing 2% galactose, and the number of colonies were counted after 3 days of incubation at 30°C. The maximal number of colonies obtained in each culture was set at 100% viability. (Maximal numbers of cells were obtained about 5 to 6 h after incubation, probably because of the presence of cells which had to finish their cell cycle.)
