Fpn enhances the relative fitness of B. fragilis. (a) The growth of wild-type (WT) and isogenic fpn− ETBF strains in rich medium was monitored at OD600. The standard deviation from four cultures is shown. (b) The WT and fpn− strains were inoculated at a 1:1 ratio into rich medium and co-cultured.
