Structural feature of basement membrane: A dense fibrillar layer, primarily located underneath the epithelial cells, the lamina lucida, and densa together with the lamina reticular correspond to the basement membrane. At the molecular level, it is primarily composed of dynamic laminin and a network of collagen IV that are bound together by entactin (nidogen) along with perlecan to form a network of supporting ECM for cellular layers.
