NOX4 is higher in the single dose radiation group, and that difference is driven by female mice. Mice were scored based on a semi‐quantitative guide of 0–5, and the average score of all mice (A), male and female mice (B), or the histogram of the percent of times that a group was scored in the 5 × 5 group (C) or the 1 × 25 group (D). Representative images are shown of negative staining (E) and positive staining (F). Images are taken from the infrapatellar fat pad, or Hoffa's fat pad, roughly midway through the joint, with bone surrounding the fat tissue, where the staining was noticeably concentrated. Arrows indicate fat tissue where either obvious lack of staining (E) or strong staining (F) is present.
