Inclusion and exclusion criteria of the JenaMACS study.

Inclusion Exclusion
  • -

    Systolic blood pressure < 90 mmHg, >30 min of inotropic agents and/or vasopressors to keep the blood pressure > 90 mmHg systolic

  • -

    Signs of left ventricular failure with pulmonary congestion.

  • -

    Signs of end-organ hypoperfusion with at least one of the following criteria:

  • -

    Somnolence.

  • -

    Cold, pale skin or extremities.

  • -

    Oliguria (≤30 mL/h).

  • -

    Serum lactate > 2.0 mmol/L.

  • -

    Age ≥ 18 years ≤90 years.

  • -

    Signed informed consent

  • -

    Contraindications to Impella CP® implantation.

  • -

    Shock duration > 12 h before evaluation.

  • -

    Severe PVD making Impella implantation impossible.

  • -

    Aortic valve insufficiency/stenosis at least II°.

  • -

    Age > 90 years.

  • -

    CNS disease with fixed, dilated pupils (not drug-induced).

  • -

    Severe concomitant disease with limited life expectancy < 6 months.

  • -

    Participation in another study.

  • -

    CPR > 30 min.

  • -

    Shock due to other reasons.
