Antiherpetic activity and cytotoxicity of Saussurea costus aqueous extract. (A) Vero cells were incubated with increasing concentrations of the extract, and after 72 h, the cytotoxicity was measured as described in Section 2. (B) Vero cells were infected at MOI 1.5 with HSV-1 and incubated with increasing concentrations of the extract. After 72 h, the virus genome production was quantitated in the supernatant by qPCR. The % of inhibition was determined as the ratio between treated and untreated infected cells. Data are expressed as mean +/− SD for n = 2.
