TLC of maltotetraose reaction products obtained with T. litoralis cell extracts in the presence and absence of phosphate. Reaction mixtures containing 5 mM maltotetraose and the cell extract (1 mg of protein per ml) in 100 mM MOPS (pH 7.0) (A) or in 50 mM potassium phosphate (pH 7.0) (B) were incubated at 85°C. Aliquots of the reaction mixture (10 μl) were applied to the TLC plate at different time intervals.
