ADbe inoculation increases tau pathology in APPswe/PS1dE9 mice in proximity to to the injection site. AT8 immunolabelling revealed tau lesions in the forms of neuropil threads (a), NFTs (bd), neuritic plaques (e) around the injection site of ADbe-inoculated APPswe/PS1dE9 mice at 8 mpi. Neuritic plaques were also detected in Ctrlbe-inoculated mice at 8 mpi (f). AT8 immunolabelling of non-inoculated aged APPswe/PS1dE9 mice (24 months old) also revealed neuritic plaques (g). h, i Representative images of AT8 immunolabelling showing tau pathology induction in the dorsal hippocampus of an ADbe-inoculated APPswe/PS1dE9 mouse at 8 mpi (i) compared to a Ctrlbe-inoculated littermate (h). j, k Representative images of AT8 immunolabelling showing tau pathology induction in the alveus of an ADbe-inoculated APPswe/PS1dE9 mouse at 8 mpi (k) compared to a Ctrlbe-inoculated littermate (j). Scale bars = 20 µm (a–g), 500 µm (h, i) and 100 µm (j, k) and 20 µm (i inset)
