Participants 700 postpartum women from 2 urban areas who are WIC eligible.
Interventions Participants are randomised to the usual WIC care or Enhanced EFNEP intervention arm.
 The usual WIC care consists of nutrition education and breastfeeding consultation at the first postpartum and follow‐up visits up to 12 months from delivery.
 The Enhanced EFNEP intervention consists of usual WIC care plus a sustained, multi‐component intervention including home visits, group classes and monthly telephone counselling in the first 12 months postpartum and after 6 months of maintenance. The purpose of the study is to test the efficacy of an educational model in improving diet, activity and weight loss among new mothers.
