Germination success (a) and germination latency (b) of L. leucanthus depended on the interaction between seed mass, soil treatment (unsterilized vs. sterilized), and soil origin (current = within the elevational range; beyond = beyond the current elevational range). In current range soils, heavier seeds were more likely to germinate in unsterilized soils than in sterilized soils (a, current). Beyond the current elevational range, greater seed mass increased germination success in sterilized soils (a, beyond).
