(a) F4/80 staining (red) assessed by immunofluorescence in ischemic kidney after 15 min of unilateral renal ischemia where the mice body temperature was maintained at normothermia (IR-37 °C) or at mild therapeutic hypothermia (mTH) (IR-34 °C), followed by 1 month of reperfusion, or after a Sham procedure with the same body temperature (Sham-37 °C and Sham-34 °C). After 1 month, renal ischemia-reperfusion induced a significant infiltration of macrophages in the kidney tissue, which was prevented by mTH.
