Protein binding to CAR2 and DAL7 DNA fragments. DNA fragments labeled with ³²P at their 5′ ends and containing the JRD72X and RD43 sequences indicated in Fig. 1 were used as probes. An extract (EXT) from IPTG (isopropyl-β-d-thiogalactopyranoside)-induced E. coli cells harboring plasmid pRD4 (T7) or pRD41 (T-7–DAL82) was prepared as described previously (17). EMSA reaction conditions were exactly as described in the work of Dorrington and Cooper (17).
