Gene expression analysis: Gene expression analysis of wound healing cytokines showed that wound healing was significantly improved in the treatment groups as compared to control (A–B) Genes corresponding to inflammatory cytokines, IL-1β and IL-6 showed decreased expression in the treatment groups in contrast to control (C–D) Genes corresponding to anti-inflammatory cytokines, IL-5 and IL-4 (E–G) oxidative stress mediated cytokines, GPX-7, PRDX-7, and TXNRD-2, and (H–I) cell proliferation mediated cytokines, VEGF and FGF showed significant increase in their expression in the treatment groups at days 3, 7 and 14 as compared to control. For statistical analysis, one-way ANOVA with Bonferroni post-hoc test was performed. Data is represented as mean ± S.E.M (n = 3); p-value ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant (where ∗∗∗ = p < 0.001, ∗∗ = p < 0.01, ∗ = p < 0.05).
