Finasteride alleviated inflammation and restored intestinal tight junction by reducing TMAO level. After sacrifice, colon tissues were collected for paraffin section preparation. (A) Colon sections were stained with Hematoxylin-eosin staining. The yellow arrow indicated the inflammatory cell infiltration in the BSA + HFD group. (B) Immunofluorescence staining of Claudin-1 and Zo-1 were performed. Scale bar: 50 μm. (C) qRT-PCR analyses of Claudin-1 and Zo-1 mRNA expression in the colon tissue were performed. After normalization against β-actin, the relative abundance of Claudin-1 and Zo-1mRNA levels were calculated and presented as fold changes. All data were expressed as the mean ± SD (n = 6) and subjected to one-way ANOVA followed by the Bonferroni post hoc test. * p < 0.05 vs. Ctrl group, # p < 0.05 vs. BSA + HFD group.
