For SOD, 1 Unit of activity is defined as the amount of enzyme required to inhibit the rate of reduction of cytochrome c by 50% at 25°C. For catalase, 1 U of activity is defined as the amount of enzyme required for the decomposition of 1 μmol of H2O2 per min at 25°C.
