Rhesus macaques (n = 2 each group) were immunized with PBS or COReNAPCIN® (30 μg or 50 μg) at days 0 and 28 and challenged with 2 × 108 PFU SARS-CoV-2 on day 21 post boost. a Seven days post-challenge, lung tissues were harvested from one rhesus macaque per group and were sectioned for hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and histopathology evaluation. The representative images of lung sections from PBS treated and both vaccination groups taken at 10X and 40X magnification are shown. b, c Nasal swabs were collected at days 2, 4, 7, 14, 21, 28 post challenge, and assessed by qRT-PCR for detection of N (b) and RdRp (c) genes of SARS-CoV-2 as indicators of virus presence in the upper respiratory tract.
