Table 8.

Total-body, unilateral mixed neutron:gamma exposure of canines: Dose (D) rate: midline (m), entrance (en), and exit (ex) dose rates, and their ratios for different irradiation conditions.

Conditions Parameter Absorbed dose rate mGy min−1 kW)
Dm 4.16
Den 8.60
Dex 2.47
Den/Dex 3.48
(Den - Dex)/Dm 1.47

Canines (male, mongrel), n=128, were exposed to mixed fission neutron/gamma radiation, unilaterally with their right sides facing the sources. Table shows distribution of absorbed doses for neutron:gamma radiation. The midline, entrance, and exit doses, Dm, Den, and Dex, for neutron plus gamma radiations, and the ratios Den/Dex and (Den - Dex)/Dm as an indication of non-homogeneity in dose distribution. The ratio of entrance dose (Den) to exit dose (Dex) was 3.48 (Wang et al.; 1991).
