(A) Expression of FP77 in JK321(pLAT202) as assessed by Western blot analysis. Whole-cell lysates of JK321 and JK321(pLAT202) cells corresponding to the amount of bacteria in 1 ml of a suspension with an OD575 of 0.1 were subjected to SDS-PAGE (12.5% gel) and subsequent Western blot analysis. The membrane was probed with a Bla-specific antiserum that binds to FP77. Tryptic digestion of physiologically intact cells was performed as described in the text. (B) Expression of FP77 in different E. coli strains. Whole-cell lysates of E. coli strains harboring pLAT202 were prepared and analyzed as described above.
