The dynamics of the m6A methylome. The methylated adenosine group is colored yellow. m6A writers, erasers and readers are the protein factors involved in the cellular m6A methylation event. m6A writers catalyze the covalent conversion of Adenosine (A) to m6A on target RNAs. FTO and ALKBH5 are m6A erasers that reverse the methylation.
