Wild-type cells containing katB-lacZ (A), ahpB-lacZ (B), and ahpC-lacZ (C) were grown in M9 medium to mid-exponential phase and treated with 100 μM paraquat (triangles) or 300 μM CHP (squares). Samples were removed before treatment and at 2, 5, 10, 20, 30, 45, and 60 min postexposure, and their β-galactosidase activities were determined. The values are the means from triplicate experiments.
