Basso–Beattie–Bresnahan (BBB) hindlimb locomotor scores of the spinal cord injury rats (n = 4 per group). Comparison of BBB locomotor scores in the neural stem cell (NSC), NSC gel, and NSC‐positively charged gold nanoparticles (pGNP) gel groups at 1, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, and 56‐days post injury (DPI). Results are the mean ± SD; a significant difference among the NSC, NSC gel, and the NSC‐pGNP gel groups at the same DPI was also demonstrated (NSC vs. NSC gel: *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, and ***p < 0.001; NSC gel vs. NSC‐pGNP gel: # p < 0.05 and ## p < 0.01; NSC vs. NSC‐pGNP gel: $$ p < 0.01 and $$$ p < 0.001). The significant differences were analyzed by a one‐way ANOVA, and Tukey's multiple‐comparison test was used as a post‐hoc analysis method
