Degree of synergy (D) was compared between groups using an adapted Loewe definition of additivity (D < 1, synergy; D = 1, additivity; D > 1, antagonism). Data were representative of three independent experiments. Statistical comparison was performed using two-way ANOVA corrected for multiple comparisons; *p < 0.033, ^**p < 0.002 (n = 7 per group).
