Induction of inflammation, organ damage, and weight loss during sublethal sepsis. WT mice underwent sham or CLP surgery. (A) Concentration of creatine phosphokinase (CPK) as marker for muscle cell degradation, blood urea nitrogen (BUN) as marker for kidney damage, and IL-6 as marker for inflammation in the serum 24 h after surgery (each n = 10–15 mice per group). (B) Time course of the body weight after surgery. Data were normalized to the individual body weight before surgery (set as 100%).
