Individuals with CF mount a similar level of immunity to poliovirus vaccine as healthy controls

Serum was collected from blood taken from CF patients at their annual check-up meeting (n = 65) or from healthy controls included in other studies at the Karolinska Institute (n = 33). Neutralizing antibodies (nAB) specific for polio 1 (A) and polio 3 (B) were measured by standard plaque reduction assay. The data are expressed as a log₄ of 4-fold dilutions (1:4 to 1:16,384 dilutions). The solid lines represent the median values and the dotted lines represent the cut-off for protective antibody titers (≥1:8 for polio 1 and 3). No significant differences were observed between the two groups using an unpaired t-test.
