Scoring was done at t20 in a Petroff-Hauser counting chamber by phase-contrast microscopy.

Results presented are the average of two independent experiments, > 1,000 phase-bright spores and phase-dark cells were scored per strain. A 95% confidence limit for all proportions was found between (±) 0.02 and 0.03.
