Five micrograms of total RNA extracted from 10⁹ bacteria of YJ016 was subjected to RNA slot blot hybridization with a ³²P-labeled probe derived from the vvp gene. FAC, ferric ammonium citrate. The concentrations of ferric ammonium citrate and 2,2′-dipyridyl in LB medium were 0.1 mg/ml and 0.15 mM, respectively. All cultures (except for that cultured at 26°C) were grown at 37°C.
