Catalase D is induced during late stationary phase, by glucose starvation, heat shock, and H₂O₂. Strain CLK20 (catA⁻ catB⁻) was grown in minimal-nitrate medium for 24, 34, and 48 h. Mycelia grown for 24 h were incubated at 42°C, in the presence of 1 M sorbitol, 5 mM paraquat, or 0.5 mM H₂O₂ for 10 h. Where indicated, 24-h mycelia were shifted for 10 to 12 h to fresh media containing or lacking glucose, lacking nitrate, or containing 0.5% Tween 80 or 0.8 mg of uric acid/ml as the sole carbon and nitrogen sources, respectively. A total of 100 μg of protein was loaded in each lane.
