Definition of TBE confirmed case

Clinical criteria Laboratory criteria (at least one of the following)
Any person with symptoms of CNS inflammation (e.g. M, meningoencephalitis, encephalomyelitis and encephaloradiculitis) (1) TBE specific IgM and IgG antibodies in blood
(2) TBE specific IgM antibodies in CSF
(3) Seroconversion or fourfold increase of TBE-specific antibodies in paired serum samples
(4) Detection of TBE viral nucleic acid in a clinical specimen
(5) Isolation of TBE virus from clinical specimen
