RNA isolation from lens epithelial cells. Capsules are isolated from lenses and placed in TRIzol. Chloroform is added for phase separation, and RNA is precipitated using ethanol followed by RNA clean up using spin columns. From the same samples, the fiber cell RNA can also be isolated with standard TRIzol/chloroform extraction, isopropanol precipitation, and ethanol wash.
