MicB* autokinase activity lies in the C-terminal part of the protein and is under the control of PAS. MicB*, MicB*-N, and MicB*100LR were autophosphosphorylated with [γ-³²P]ATP at 23°C in 48 μl of phosphorylation buffer (see Materials and Methods) containing 12 pmol of purified protein. At intervals, 16-μl aliquots were mixed with 2× loading buffer and run on SDS-12% PAGE gels for analysis as described in Materials and Methods.
