Microdipoles in 3c vs 3d interact with negatively charged membranes (HeLa, POPC : POPS). Electron delocalisation from sulfur polarizes 3c,d dispersing negative potential over the arene and sulfur atoms. Electron‐withdrawing fluorines in 3d further polarize the arene by dispersing negative potential to the circumference, localising positive potential at the arene centre, and enhancing electrostatic interactions with negative charged membranes.
