Polyamine depletion limits cholesterol incorporation into RVFV particles. (A) RVFV derived from untreated and polyamine-depleted (DFMO) conditions was treated for 4 h with increasing doses of MβCD and infectious virus measured by the plaque assay. (B) RVFV from untreated and DFMO treatment conditions was purified, and the associated cholesterol was measured. The limit of detection is noted by the dashed line. (C) Vero cells were treated with increasing doses of DFMO for four days and cellular cholesterol was measured.
