Effect of PA on glucose and lactate metabolism of SCs. After glucose is taken up by SCs, pyruvate is produced through glycolysis. Most of the pyruvate is used to produce and secrete lactate for GCs to provide energy, and only a small part of pyruvate participates in the TCA cycle. Levels of glucose (A), fructose-6-phosphate (B), fructose-1,6-bisphosphate (C), dihydroxyacetone phosphate (D), pyruvate (E), lactate (F), and acetyl-CoA (G).
